Moving along with progress, with all data results collected, and tallied, and the opinion polls are favorable. If this were a marketing project, it would be more like a consumer rating survey. However, this is the first phase, of a project that in reality would take an entire year. Nevertheless, before I can pitch the idea, I first had to see where teacher’s thinking was in regards to cellphone being used in the classroom.

The concerns they have in general, are viewing material not conducive to education purposes. However, there is no real data proving cell phones in the class, are anymore of a risk then IPads and Computers.

Nevertheless, now that I know I can get people on-board, I would like to engage a select array of students, from various tier levels, and install an app to their phone for a program called Reading Eggs. Once this is accomplished, the next step would be to compare and contrast performance level, the following year, of those students, versus the average performance level of students who did not participate.

The rational that this is an effective learning tool, has to do with several factors. Among these are student familiarity with the devices, also, they are more of a minicomputer than simply just a phone and texting device.  Most importantly, they can extend learning beyond the classroom.

The latter portion research however, will not be included in the final EDU 595 Thesis.

  1. While I teach elementary school and the issue of students not using the devices for educational purposes has always been one of my major concerns. I teach elementary school, so cell phones are really not that big of an issue, but I can only imagine what it's like on the middle school and high school level.
